Teeth Grinding
|
|
Teeth grinding, or bruxism, is the habitual clenching or grinding of teeth
during sleep. It can be so loud that it awakens a bed partner, and your jaw may
be clenched so hard that the grinding wears away at the tooth's enamel and
loosens teeth.
Teeth grinding usually is caused by stress or tension and is treated by
addressing the underlying stress through psychotherapy , stress
reduction, or correcting your bite. Your dentist can create a dental guard that
you wear at night to help prevent damage to the teeth.
