Restless Legs Syndrome
|
|
Restless legs syndrome is a very common problem that interferes with sleep.
As you relax (often in the evening before bedtime), you feel unpleasant tingling
sensations in your legs (and sometimes your arms). These sensations persist as
you try to fall asleep, interfering with falling asleep and staying asleep.
The cause of this condition is unknown, but it runs in families. It may be more
common during pregnancy. Several medicines can be effective, including levodopa,
bromocriptine, pergolide, the benzodiazepines, and opioids.
